As America waits for the results of this week’s presidential election, memes have coalesced around a particular state: Nevada.
With the vote count underway in the Silver State, social media is passing the time by supplying some comic relief.
Regardless of however quickly election workers are counting Nevada ballots, these memes are fixated on one theme: S-L-O-W.
According to the Nevada vote count memes proliferating on Twitter, TikTok and Instagram, the process is shaping up to be as lethargic as Flash Slothmore, the three-toed sloth who works at the Department of Mammal Vehicles in the movie “Zootopia” (or an actual sloth).
Some compared the pace of the state’s count to Brian McKnight counting to five in the song “Back at One” or Bayonne’s George R.R. Martin finishing his long-delayed “Game of Thrones”/”A Song of Ice and Fire” series of books.
Maybe Dougie, the shuffling character from “Twin Peaks,” would be a better bet to count the votes, they suggested.
Another entry in the Nevada meme depicted the state’s approach to ballots as a loafer who’d rather binge-watch “The Office.”
Since the official Nevada vote results may not be available until Saturday or Sunday, the memes have been continuing … apace.
